Kindergarten Teacher in the afternoons. This unique, full-time role offers the opportunity to work with young learners during critical stages of their early development in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Essential Duties:
Establishes and maintains a positive, respectful classroom environment by implementing clear expectations and utilizing a positive behavior support system.
Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) to promote student success.
Identifies individual student needs and collaborates with staff to implement appropriate supports, including referrals and contributions to individualized education plans (IEPs) when necessary.
Oversees and coordinates the activities of paraprofessionals, associate teachers and volunteers in the classroom and during field trips.
Carry out duties under the supervision of the Early Childhood Administrator.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Morning (GSRP Lead Teacher):
- Implement a high-quality preschool program following GSRP guidelines and curriculum.
- Develop and maintain a positive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment for 4-year-olds.
- Collaborate with an associate teacher to ensure effective instruction and supervision.
- Conduct child assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
- Engage families in their child’s learning and development through regular communication and family involvement activities.
Afternoon (Kindergarten Teacher):
- Provide engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Michigan state standards.
- Foster a nurturing, structured classroom that promotes academic and social-emotional growth.
- Design and implement lessons across core subject areas.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements (ZA/ZS preferred for GSRP).
- Meets all GSRP lead teacher requirements per Michigan Department of Education.
- Experience working with preschool and/or Kindergarten-aged children.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for early childhood education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education or related field.
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, COR Advantage, and GSRP compliance procedures.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
