Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM – 11:30 AM
Reports To: GSRP Lead Teacher / Early Childhood Administrator
Job Summary:
Nottawa Community School is seeking a nurturing and motivated GSRP Associate Teacher to support a high-quality preschool program serving eligible four-year-old children. This is a part-time, morning-only position supporting our state-funded Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), designed to promote school readiness and whole-child development. The associate teacher will collaborate with the lead teacher to ensure a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. *This part-time position may be combined with other roles or responsibilities within Nottawa Community School to create a full-time opportunity. Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher with planning and implementing engaging, play-based learning activities aligned with the High Scope curriculum.
- Support classroom routines, small-group learning, and individual student needs.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times.
- Observe, document, and support the assessment of children's developmental progress.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and GSRP trainings as required.
- Complete classroom clerical and record keeping duties (i.e. attendance, lunch count, personnel activity report, etc.).
- Operate a variety of school equipment (computer, copy machine, etc.).
- Complete accident and/or incident reports as needed.
- Participate in yearly CPI, CPR/AED and first-aid training biyearly.
- Attend and provide input at student/staff/team meetings and in-service when required.
- Actively seeks advice and information relating to job.
- Adhere to the rules of confidentiality (FERPA).
- Use universal precautions at all times for personal health and safety.
- Complete other school related responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or valid CDA credential.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Must pass comprehensive background checks and meet all state licensing requirements.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Familiarity with the HighScope curriculum and the GSRP model.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
Compensation:
- Commensurate with experience and education $15 to $18 per hour.
