Job Title: Young 5's Kindergarten Teacher

Position Overview
Nottawa Community School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Young 5’s Kindergarten Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of early childhood development and a passion for creating a nurturing, play-based learning environment. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional strategies that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners, preparing them for a successful transition into kindergarten and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Implementation: Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with Michigan's Early Childhood Standards of Quality and district-approved curricula.
- Instructional Strategies: Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs, including individualized and small-group instruction.
- Classroom Environment: Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and respect.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and communicate findings with parents and staff.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and administration to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Parental Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication, conferences, and involvement in classroom activities.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications
Required:
Preferred:
Experience: Five or more years of experience teaching in early childhood or Kindergarten settings.
Additional Skills:
- Experience supporting diverse learners, including students with IEPs or English Language Learners.
- Familiarity with play-based and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Willingness to engage in school-wide activities and collaborate across grade levels.
- Compensation and Benefits: Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and salary schedule per NEA/MEA collective bargaining agreement.
